I am a PhD candidate in film studies at the University of Exeter. My research centres around the use of music in French girlhood film, focusing on the interaction between music, character identity, and spectator subjectivity. When I’m not writing my thesis, I spend my time on trains, baking, drinking coffee, and being paid to answer questions that people could mostly answer themselves using the website.
I will use this blog to write about my research, the PhD in general, and attempt to explain exactly what humanities researchers do all day. Probably with the odd research-related meme thrown in, just for good measure.
